Yacht Accounting Greece - FAQs

What is ENFIA and do yacht owners have to pay it?

ENFIA is the annual Greek property tax that applies to vessel ownership. All yachts registered in Greece are subject to ENFIA declarations. Vlamis handles all ENFIA filings as part of our accounting service, ensuring timely submission and correct calculation to avoid penalties.

Do I need to register for VAT if I charter my yacht in Greece?

Yes. Charter operators in Greece must register for VAT and file quarterly returns. The applicable rate and filing requirements depend on your vessel's flag, ownership structure and charter type. Vlamis manages VAT registration and all periodic filings on behalf of yacht owners under management contracts.

What is an MCPY (NEPA) company and why do yacht owners use them?

An MCPY (Monoprosopi Commercial Pleasure Yacht company) is a Greek commercial vessel company that allows owners to operate their yacht commercially in Greece under a tax-advantaged structure. Under certain conditions, MCPY companies are tax-free in Greece. Vlamis handles full MCPY accounting and compliance.
