Ionian Islands · Greece
Sail from Vlamis Yachts' permanent base at D-Marin Lefkada, bareboat, skippered or fully crewed, through the most beautiful sailing waters in the Mediterranean.
Sailing Lefkada, Greece
Lefkada is the only Greek island connected to the mainland by a causeway. You can drive your luggage straight to the marina, step aboard and be in open water within minutes. It sits at the heart of the Ionian island chain, making it the ideal starting point for one-week charters that take in Meganisi, Ithaca, Kefalonia and the stunning anchorages of the inner Ionian.
The Ionian is consistently the most benign sailing ground in Greece. Northwesterly winds (the Maistro) blow steadily and predictably through summer, without the gusts and unpredictability of the Aegean's Meltemi. This makes Lefkada the preferred base for families, first-time charterers and anyone who wants reliable conditions and maximum time at anchor.
Vlamis Yachts operates a permanent base at D-Marin Lefkada Marina, one of the best-equipped marinas in the Ionian. Our team is on the dock for check-in, briefing, and on-call support throughout your charter week.
Where You'll Sail
A week from Lefkada gives you access to the finest anchorages in Greece. These are the highlights.
Two of the most photographed beaches in Europe, sheer white cliffs dropping to electric-blue water on Lefkada's west coast. Accessible only by sea or a long descent on foot.
The small island of Meganisi sits just south of Lefkada with three charming village ports and several deep, sheltered bays. Nearby Scorpios, the famous Onassis island, is visible from anchor.
The most elegant port town in the Ionian, with a Venetian harbour front, excellent restaurants, and well-sheltered anchorage. A day's sail south from Lefkada.
Homer's island. The deep fjord-like bay of Vathy is one of the most dramatic natural harbours in Greece. Sail in slowly and watch the mountains close around you.
Sivota is one of the most sheltered bays in the Ionian with excellent tavernas right on the water. Nidri on Lefkada's east coast is the charter hub, with provisioning, fuel, repairs and a lively waterfront.
A longer day's sail north but well worth it. The sea caves of Antipaxos are among the most spectacular natural formations in the Mediterranean. Overnight in Gaios before returning south.
How to Charter
Charter independently with your own qualified skipper. Requires a recognised sailing licence (RYA, ASA, ICC or equivalent) and a qualified co-skipper. The most cost-effective option for experienced sailors. Check in directly at D-Marin Lefkada.
A professional Vlamis skipper joins your group for the week. No experience or licence required. You choose the anchorages, the skipper handles the sailing. Particularly popular with families and mixed-experience groups.
Full crew including skipper, hostess and optional chef. Fully provisioned, fully managed. The complete Ionian experience with none of the logistics. Available on selected yachts and catamarans from our Lefkada base.

May, June and September are ideal: consistent Maistro winds, warm water and anchorages that are uncrowded compared to peak season.
July and August are busier but the Ionian remains far more sheltered than the Aegean in summer, making Lefkada popular with families even at the height of the season.
For a bareboat charter you need a recognised sailing licence (RYA Day Skipper, ASA 104, ICC or equivalent) plus a qualified co-skipper. If you do not hold a licence, we provide a professional skipper for the week, no experience required on your part.
All Vlamis charters from Lefkada depart from D-Marin Lefkada Marina, on the northeast coast of the island. The marina is well-equipped with fuel, provisions, showers and a chandlery. Our team will be on the dock to meet you for check-in and briefing.
Yes. One-way charters from Lefkada to Corfu (northbound) or to Kefalonia and Zakynthos (southbound) are available subject to positioning fees. This is a popular option for sailors wanting to cover the full length of the Ionian without retracing their route. Contact us to discuss routing and pricing.
